A Blog Dedicated to Living a Healthy Lifestyle

Healthier and Happier

On Sunday, the crew finished moving everything out of the apartment in Boston and into our “new” apartment at my parents’ house.

I shed a few tears as I said goodbye to the first apartment that Jared and I shared.I really didn’t want to leave Boston and the first home we had created.

I didn’t realize that moving outside of the city and back into my childhood home would make me feel so much healthier and happier in such a short amount of time.

Jared now faces a long commute to and from work each day. I’ve been driving him to the train station in the morning so he can take the commuter rail to Boston. At 6:15, I return to the train station so I can drive him back home. Saves $4 on parking!

Plus those 15 minute car rides have become so important to me. The dog curls up in the back seat as Jared and I enjoy the time for quality conversation. The morning talks help inspire me to tackle my day with new enthusiasm and then the evening talks allow Jared and me to focus on each other before we get back to the house where we face lots of distractions: dinner, TV, laptops, and a wild and crazy corgi.

I have grand plans to cook 2 dinners per week, but that won’t start until next week. :P

In the meantime, my mom and dad have been doing a great job sharing healthy and delicious meals with Jared and me. My dad made stuffed peppers topped with cheese and sauce to celebrate our 1st official night as roommates.

I’m getting back into the fitness groove. It’s easy to hop on the treadmill in the basement and watch TV while I jog.

In the privacy of the basement, there’s no one to judge my wardrobe choices. Halloween socks and t-shirt! Plus I can chant words of encouragement (“5 more minutes. Keep up the pace.”) or sing at the top of my lungs without disturbing anyone.

Though I was very sad to temporarily leave Boston, I now know that this move will be such a blessing.

I feel happier. I feel healthier. I’m eating well and exercising. I’m spending quality time with my fiance and my family. I’m saving money for my wedding on 8/10/12 and have lots of time to search for an apartment without the issues of my last place.

Plus Boston is only an hour away and I’ll be making day trips once a week and crashing with friends on weekends. :D
