The Wine Cellar

I was so excited to celebrate Valentine’s Day 2011 with dinner at the Wine Cellar.

When Jared and I first started dating, he lived around the corner from the Wine Cellar.  Each time we passed, I would mention that I wanted to eat there because there are fondue options on the menu.

Since I was in charge of the reservations for V-Day 2011 and decided to make my fondue dreams come true. :P

Our pre-fixe meal started with salads and cheese fondue.  The classic cheese fondue was served with bread and potatoes for dipping.  Mmm!  Jared, previously anti-fondue, was obsessed.  The salad consisted of tossed mesclun greens with artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, and hard boiled eggs with house vinaigrette.   I don’t like eggs, but I picked around them and was able to enjoy my salad.

I chose the Filet Mignon for my entree.  It was topped with Bearnaise sauce and served with broccoli and spiced potato alumettes.  It was a decent meal and I enjoyed the filet.

Dessert was the highlight of the meal: Dark chocolate fondue served with marshmallows, cookies, brownies, and fruit.  So delicious! :D

Jared and I enjoy the intimate atmosphere at the Wine Cellar.  It was a nice way to celebrate Valentine’s Day and try fondue for the very first time.

Not wanting to end the light so early (our dinner was during the 1st seating, at 5:30 pm), Jared and I sat at the bar at Top of the Hub and enjoyed a few drinks.  I had a martini and a wonderfully refreshing Cucumber Mojito, pictured above.
