I’m not a true yogi. I think I’m more like Yogi Bear. I’d prefer a picnic basket to Child’s Pose any day.
Last night I was lacking energy and motivation yet still wanted to get a workout in. One OnDemand search later and I was rolling out my yoga mat for 30 minutes of stretching.
Chair poses are a great lower body workout if you hold them for several breaths.
And a modified chair pose adds an extra stretch while still working your lower body.
Streeeeeetch!
Even though I rarely practice yoga, I often do Down Dog stretches while I’m hanging out and watching TV. It feels good to get my blood flowing and loosen up my muscles.
I’ve been thinking about practicing yoga once per week. Even finding a hot yoga studio in the South End, an easy feat because everyone around here is artsy and earthy! I think it would help me relax, and keep my mind focused on what’s really important rather than sweating the small stuff.
Plus I need an instructor to correct my poses since I’m sure that even though it feels like I’m doing stuff the right way, I need to readjust and properly align.
*How often do you practice yoga? Do you do yoga at home or do you visit a studio?*
Yoga ended, and I decided to do an ab workout. I figured that I might as well since I was already lying on my mat. Easier than standing up right away.
Oh no, my apartment is a train wreck!
It’s been almost 1 month since BlogHer and the Healthy Living Summit and my table is still covered in samples. Good thing I dressed in my best cleaning outfit so I could get down to business and get my apartment back to normal. Yoga gave me just enough energy to get the job done!

Hot yoga is where it’s at! I went to a great studio in Pittsburgh and loved literally sweating it all out AND getting in a fantastic workout. As a runner, it’s so important to stretch! You should definitely look into classes nearby!

I agree with Caitlin that I love hot yoga. I’m no yogi either but whenever I don’t go for awhile and then go, I’m so sore and I realize I really have to go more often!
I also enjoy Yoga Sculpt on demand, which is probably what you did right?

I love that you did yoga On Demand! I love yoga and would like to get to a studio eventually, but time and money have made me put that off for a bit. Anyway, I even though I get good workouts from On Demand, I feel dorky about it. Thanks for blogging about it so I feel a little cooler & know I’m not the only one!

I go to bikram once or twice a week. There’s a bikram yoga in the South End, you should try it if you haven’t yet. Have fun!

I tried yoga last fall and wasn’t the biggest fan of it – I want to try it again…I struggle with doing it on my own and not knowing if I am doing it correctly.
I don’t want to pull a muscle or anything…!

you’re so cute! i love yoga — the way it can be physically challenging + rewarding and the calm it provides. hot yoga is my fave – especially in our chilly + dry winters. hopefully, i’ll still love yoga after my intense retreat this weekend. =)

I’ve been thinking about doing On-Demand yoga myself, as I don’t like the times of the classes at my gym. Which ones do you recommend??

I have actually just started to like yoga—I used to think it was a waste of time, but now I see how relaxing it is and I love it.

During the school year I try to get there at least twice a week. This summer I have been a major slacker, hopefully that changes soon! Yoga helps me relax and stretch out so much, I love it.

I just bought a package of 20 classes at a studio near me. I plan to go about once per week. I wish I could practice more, but my schedule just doesn’t allow for it!

I love yoga and would love to take a hot yoga class but because of the price, I just practice yoga at Healthworks..I keep telling myself that I am going to try hot yoga in the winter once a week. I just haven’t decided if I want to try somewhere near my work (South end) or home (Brighton/Brookline)….hmm.

Hey! I go to the bikram yoga center in the financial district, which is a block from South Station. I usually ride my bike there. http://www.bikramyogaboston.com – I would LOVEEE to have a partner to help with motivation!!
