A Blog Dedicated to Living a Healthy Lifestyle

Speed Reader

Hi, my name is Melissa and I have a confession to make: I start reading a book…then begin reading another book.  Until I’m overwhelmed by my pile of half-read or must-read books.

12 books in all! :(

If I wasn’t so distracted by TV and blogging (and googling random shit), I’d have the pile read within a few weeks.  I always read before I go to bed, but lately I’ve been waiting until I’m exhausted.  So I only make it through 3 or 4 pages before it’s lights out.

12 books before the end of 2010 is a lofty goal.  But if I can complete 4 items, I’ll feel very accomplished.  :)

*Do you have any book recommendations?* Add some fuel to the fire and suggest a few other titles for me to read. ;)

*Edited moments after publishing the post*

I decided tonight’s random Google search would be “corgi anime” and I found this awesome photo:

It’s Miles and me!  So cute!  (source)

I’m the SAME way… My family makes fun of me because I read so many books at once. But I liken it to television watching. You watch one episode of a show, then watch other shows in between before seeing another episode of the first. I like to make my books last longer :)

I love The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (you’ll have to read all of them!). I also just read the first in the Hunger Games trilogy and am obsessed! They’re young adult books, so quick reads, but SO good!

Hi there – I am the same way always have numerous books going but sometimes it is either I do that or I will forget I want to read something. If you have not read Eat Pray Love you have to read it.

Great cartoon of you and Miles!!

I am not good at reading more than one book at a time. I’m also not good at setting aside time for reading. Sad, because I really enjoy it. Maybe if I make a deal with myself: an afternoon of biochemistry reading earns me an hour with an enjoyable book at night…

You not finish a book? Hard to believe. You would finish a book just bought from the book store before you were home. Your life is just to busy. I sugg. that you sit every night and read to Miles. He would love it and you would finish your books. LOL…love the pict. so you and Miles.

I’m the opposite: I HAVE to finish a book before I can start a new one (and it has lead to 2 am bedtimes every now and then). Like Sues, I also really liked The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and recommend reading the trilogy. Have fun reading!

I’m usually pretty decent at finishing books unless they are really dry. Of those I’ve been reading lately these are some of my favorites: Little Bee (reading now), Tender at the Bone, Libation, A Bitter Achemy, The Wednesday Sisters, The Other Side of the Leash (given you’re a dog owner I think you’d like it), and The Way We Eat.

Girl, I feel you. I just bought FIVE books last weekend. I highly recommend anything by Jen Lancaster. She is hilarious.

I actually recently gave up tv so that I would read more (and get through my sickeningly large stacks of books that i compulsively buy…)

I’d say just focus on one and go from there, reading is supposed to be enjoyable don’t let all that you have to read stress you out, you have a lifetime to read them all : ) I try to devote at least an hour before bed to reading, it does wonders for my sleep!
