I was interested in the video of the 3rd-gen farmer who decided to go organic. I wonder how many family farms are going this direction.

I watched the “Growing the Organic Market” video. It focused on a farm in Dinuba, CA that has 70 acres – 54 of which are dedicated to organic peaches. Peach trees are some of the most sensitive trees to pests, yet this farm is dedicated to not using pesticides and chemical fertilizers. It a huge effort on their part, but they’re passionate about it!

I am so sorry, but this is not the first time I have been unable to get a video to work on their site. I want to enter, but I think my mac has an issue with their clips. I do know about organics because as an RD, this is something I have studied and reviewed. It is great for the environment.

I learned (from Stonyfield) to start buying Organic mostly for the treatment of the cows/livestock. I am not vegetarian, but consider myself an animal lover and these cows live much longer (and happier, I think) lives then their other non-organic counterparts.
unfortunately, it’s not super easy to find everything organic. I do buy Stonyfield yogurt….and other organic/cage free eggs and that kind of thing. Would love to switch over completely, but it’s sort of a work in progress.

What I think is cool about Stonyfield is that they collect their milk from multiple family run farms. This is both great for the environment (more farms!) and the economy. It’s hard to argue with Stonyfields mission.

I learned about how children are more at risk to exposure of pesticides and chemicals in conventionally grown food in the baby steps to health video. Organic foods are a better choice, especially for children to lessen their risk of harmful chemical exposure.

I watched the “Growing the Organic Market” video and learned that peaches are one of the most difficult fruits to grow organically. Thanks!

I learned children are more likely to be exposed to dangerous pesticides and chemicals than adults.
I love chocolate!

Watched the healthy planet video. I learned that we are all connected in some way. So from start to finish Stonyfield is trying to decrease chemicals, fuel consumption, and enviromental contamination so that the planet will stay safe and healthy for everyone.

I learned that every time you buy an item at the grocery store, you’re voting for whether you support organic farmers or not.
