My legs are tired when I think about everything that happened today!
My mom and I walked all over Midtown, from 10:30 until 5:30 when we caught the train home. We stopped for lunch and sat for 20 minutes, but otherwise it was go-go-go. It was great to stroll around the city, take photos, and spend the day with my mom.
Thank you for spending well wishes to my little bro. He said the interview went well and now he just needs to wait for an answer.
We left the house at 6:30 am to drive to New Haven, CT. From there, we caught the 8:50 train into Grand Central Station. I ate a bowl of cereal before I left the house but it was way too early to even think about taking a photo. I was more concerned with having time to straighten my hair before I was rushed out the door.

Within moments of stepping out of the train station, I knew I had arrived in New York. Though I didn’t buy any today, I love roasted almonds. They’re my favorite street vendor snack.

My mom was excited for our first Girls’ Day Out. Since we’re both off from work on Thursdays, this will be repeated on a regular basis.

After escorting my brother to his interview location, my mom and I wandered to Bryant Park.

Between the two of us, my mom and I carried 3 umbrellas and 2 ponchos, just in case an afternoon thunderstorm rolled in. I felt like an idiot; the weather was hot and sunny all day. Better safe than sorry!

My mom and I found our way to Rockefeller Center.

Then we toured St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

I loved touring the cathedral and took some awe-inspiring photographs.

I relived my childhood at the American Girl store.
I prayed for a Samantha doll for months and finally received one for my 9th birthday. From there, I became an avid collector of the dolls and their beautiful dresses. I’m very sad that Samantha and Kirsten have been retired. I’m tempted to browse e-bay and purchase the dresses I need to complete their wardrobes.
I couldn’t resist stopping at Tiffany & Co. My mom and I had a great time browsing, and I even tried on some bling. But sadly, we left the store empty handed.

I made a furry friend at FAO Schwartz.

As soon as I spotted the sign for POP burger, I grabbed my mom and sprinted across the street.

I ate at POP burger once, on an NYC trip during college. I had fond yet slightly faded memories so I was pumped to have POP burgers again.

My mom and I each ordered POP burgers. The meal came with 2 sliders, served in a little cardboard box. We shared a side of crispy, crunchy fries.

POP burger! It was a slider with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and dressing. My meal of 2 burgers and some fries was deliciously unhealthy. I loved every bite!

By late afternoon, we hit the hustle and bustle of Times Square.
When Matt finished his interview, all 3 of us were ready to begin the long journey back home. One Ice Chai Latte, one slice of pizza, one train ride, and one long car ride later… Home sweet home!
I always post about walking as a great way to exercise. My day trip to NYC is another perfect example. Wow, I’m exhausted!

What a lovely day you had. I bet you’re looking forward to spending more time with your mum on Thursdays. I wish I had time off work to do that. my mum only works 3 days a week so that would be perfect if I did. You are so like me, always prepared for a rain storm! I remember walking round London carrying a heavy coat even though it was glorious sunshine all day!!

That’s so great that you’re just a train ride away from NYC. I’ve never been and it breaks my heart. Someday though…
POP burger sounds like a great place.

I have Kristen!
Actually funny story – I got her as a birthday present and so as not to ruin the surprise my parents had her shipped to my Dad’s law office. For years afterwards the office received American Girl Doll catalogues!
