Kettle Bells

First timer here!

This morning I had a training session with Patty.  While answering her pre-training questions, I mentioned that I was curious about kettle bells.  I’d watched online How To Videos, but was too nervous to try a workout on my own.  Patty was a great teacher!

Kettle Bell

My training session started with stretching.  Lots and lots of dynamic stretching including some Spider Man crawling and pig walking.  Sort of embarrassing, but necessary.  I did a strength circuit of squat jumps, push ups, and sit ups.  Without any breaks between each exercise, my heart rate stayed up for an added cardio bonus.

After 3 times through the circuit, Patty told me to move on to kettle bells.  I learned the proper form for dead lifts, pull throughs, and single arm presses.  Lots of corrections.  I wasn’t very good at sitting back on my heels, keeping my butt down, and my back straight.  I went through a circuit once I had mastered each exercise.

Kettle bells are a great workout!  They allow you to exercise using a greater range of motion, help increase flexibility, and balanced musculature.  Working with kettle bells will help increase power and explosiveness.  Perfect…I need all of these things for cheerleading!

Chicken and Avocado wrap

While my bowl of cereal was a great breakfast, I didn’t make it very long past 11 am when I was ready for lunch.  I had a wrap with chicken, avocados, lettuce, tomatoes, and light Ranch dressing.  Continuing to nurture my over for avocados.

Ice Chai

On my afternoon prospecting trip, I stopped at Starbucks for an Ice Chai.  :)

Dark Chocolate Pom and Mixed Nuts

When I got home from work, I made a sweet, salty, and fruity blend.  I combined Dark Chocolate Pomegranate and mixed nuts.

Marathon Training Guide

While I snacked, I read my daily notes for marathon training.

Marathon Training Guide

I love that the training manual contains a paragraph of advice for each and every day of training.  I also recorded my workout: training with Patty.  Different from the 3 mile run that was on the schedule.  I think missing this short run is fine, considering I received an individualized workout routine.

Ziti and Meatballs

I’d love to share the recipe for my tasty turkey meatballs.  A frozen bag from Trader Joe’s!

Never any fancy home cooked meals in my house.  Just lots of pasta.  And tonight’s addition of 3 turkey meatballs with red sauce and Parmesan cheese. :P

I’ve never tried kettle bells either and am quite scared that I will knock myself out! I doubt I’ll be able to lift them. I love that your training guide has a paragraph about each day – it must be so useful.
PS I’m still looking for coffee for you, I haven’t forgotten!
