It’s a School Night

Saturday nights are going to be like a “school night” from now on.  I’ll be working on Sundays from 8 am-5pm.  And depending on the date, I might have to head to cheerleading practice after work.

Chips and Salsa

After spending the morning running and the afternoon drinking, I knew I had to make last night even more low key than usual.

All of my running buddies gathered at Drew and Nicki’s house for some post-race relaxation.  I munched on a few handfuls of chips and salsa.

Make Your Own Tacos

We each got to design our own tacos for dinner.

Tacos

I loaded my tacos with ground beef, cheese, guacamole, and a bit of sour cream.  I was so in love with the guac that I ate more on the side with some tortilla chips.

I tried to drink lots of water to rehydrate.  I also went home early (the rest of the crew was watching a movie) so I could get my stuff ready for work and tidy up the house before I went to bed.

I didn’t photograph this moring’s yogurt/granola/AB breakfast.  Getting ready for work is enough to worry about.  I don’t need to stress about photos and yogurt isn’t anything special anyway.  :P

Soup and Grilled Cheese

I was the only sales staff member at work today so I was really busy.  I snacked on a mini-Clif Bar to get through the morning.  I had planned to grab lunch around 12, but couldn’t leave my desk.

By 1 pm, things had calmed down enough for me to sprint to Finagle-a-Bagel for a bowl of tomato soup and an ooey gooey grilled cheese.  This is the perfect cold weather food…and the AC in my office was really chilly today! ;)

I had another snack around 4 pm.  I knew I would need some food in my belly for cheerleading practice.

I stunted from 6-8 pm with my new teammates at Full House All Stars.  I felt SO out of practice.  It’s been well over a year and a half since I cheered, and even longer since I did any serious stunting and tumbling.  My skills aren’t gone forever.  It’s like riding a bike.  I’ll never lose them.  But I have some work to do to get back on top of my game.

For those of you who understand cheerleading lingo: Tonight was about getting back to basics.  I spent my time co-ed stunting.  I did a few toss Awesomes and toss Libs.  I worked on Full Up Libs, but my partner and I had timing issues and weren’t successful.  I attempted a Ball Up Stretch, but my flexibility is at a zero so it looked lousy.  I observed while another group worked on the beginning of a stunt sequence that may end up in our competition routine.  It’s gonna be awesome!

I’m sad I’m going to miss practice next week.  But for now, practicing every other week is an easy transition back into my favorite sport.  Yes, cheerleading IS a sport. :)   I’m really glad that I can make room for cheerleading in my life again.  I’m going to be so busy running to get ready for my marathon and flipping and stunting on the weekends.

Vegetable Dinner

I was SO hungry when I got home from the cheer gym.  I wanted to make a filling meal, but didn’t want to eat anything that would sit heavy in my stomach so late at night.

So I decided to cook every leftover vegetable in my fridge!

I sauteed squash, zucchini, tomatoes, and onions in a little bit of olive oil.  I also cut some corn off of the cob to make it easier to eat.

Vegetable Sandwich

I ate the corn and some vegetables with a fork.  I also turned some veggies into a veggie sandwich by piling them on a leftover hamburger bun and adding sharp cheddar cheese, and lettuce.

I have lots of leftover vegetables for later this week.  I have a full belly.  I have tired muscles.  Makes me really glad that I took it easy last night and treated it like I had school this morning.

And on that note, I have “school” again tomorrow morning so I should get some rest.

It’s great that you are still cheerleading. And I agree it is a sport! I need to take up my school activities again like team games (netball) and music.
Your dinner looks so colourful and nutritious. You have a lot of veggies!

I plan to have a very similar dinner tonight, and I’m really excited about it.

Grilled cheese and tomato soup is the perfect any-weather food in my opinion :)

Great night then. Be very careful not to twist an ankle. Disney would not like it if you miss the 1/2 marathon.

It’s okay if Sunday is busy, as long as another day of the week gets to be relaxing :) Glad you are cheering again, sounds like fun!
