Celebrate Good Times

Last night, the weather looked questionable: Dark skies, raining heavily on and off.  But I went to HealthWorks for the 6 pm running club anyway.

It proved to be a great decision!

The rain stopped by the time our group of women runners hit the pavement.  We left from the Back Bay HealthWorks and ran through Downtown Boston until we reached Government Center.  We ran up and down the stairs in Government Center…twice!  What a workout!  Then we headed to the Boston Common.  The group was going to run a few laps around the Common, but I left halfway through the first lap.

My legs were still a little tired from Sunday’s race and I didn’t want to overdo it.  Even though I missed the end of the workout, it was still a lot of fun.  Girls on the run = exercise and chitchat.  It was great to see Ali again.  I haven’t seen her since FitBloggin in March!  She still has a few more weeks left for her Half Marathon training, but I know she’s going to do well on race day.

I don’t have to think about training until mid-June when I will focus my sights on October’s full marathon.  So for right now, I plan on joining the ladies at HealthWorks each Tuesday.  It’s more fun to run with a group and make new friends. :)

Dinner

From HealthWorks, I went directly to Whiskeys for more fun.  Whenever our friend Brian is in town, he always organizes a group event and lots of people show up for buffalo wings, beer, and good times.  I was hungry after my workout so I ate a chicken sandwich and shared my fries and spicy cucumbers with the guys.

I arrived home too late to join in the weekly #fitblog Twitter chat.  So I just cried my way through Lost and smiled my way through Glee before heading to bed.

Breakfast

I made a bowl of soupy cereal for breakfast, with a banana and almond butter to keep me full for longer.  I was in a hurry to get out and about.

Boston is celebrating Marine Week!

Marine Week

I grabbed my corgi and took him on a walk around the city.  Everywhere we looked, there were men in uniform, tanks, helicopters, etc.

Smiling Corgi

Miles was all smiles.  He met so many people who petted him and proclaimed their love for corgis.  He was even lucky enough to meet a fireman who gave him a bottle of water.  Spoiled!

More Marines in Boston

Marines were even in Faneuil Hall.

Columbus Park

Miles and I made it to Columbus Park!

I enjoyed the view of the city and the water while he relaxed in the grass.

I know I’ve been showing a LOT of photos from my walks around Boston.

Walking has been my main form of exercise last week and this week.  It was a good way to taper before the Half Marathon and recover after the race.  I have plans to get back to the gym tomorrow.  But I wanted to show you guys how simple and fun walking can be.  It’s been good exercise, covering miles around Boston, and it’s also given me time to relax and clear my head after a very emotional end of April.

Boston

And walking and photography is free!  So it’s perfect for my “In Between Jobs” situation.

I’m so happy and relaxed that I’m going to be celebrating something else tonight.  And I still don’t mean Cinco de Mayo!  Just wait and see… :P
