South End Athletic Company

I’m glad I chose to go to spin class.  Within 20 minutes, my Gruve indicated that I had reached my goal calorie burn for the day.  Go me!  I tried to crank the resistance up whenever possible, really climbing those hills, and keep my cadence with the music.  But for some reason I didn’t feel as sweaty and exhausted as usual.  Oh well, I’m still really happy that I chose to work out.  There are always shopping events all over the city.  I’ll attend another when when it doesn’t conflict with my gym time!  :)

Cooking

When I finally got home I was famished!

Brinner?  Breakfast for dinner?

Brupper?  Breakfast for supper?

013

I made buttermilk waffles in the waffle maker.  Topped with a spoonful of plain Chobani, Crofter’s Organic Superfruit Spread, and some heated mixed berries.  So filling that I almost couldn’t finish it.

I love this little guy so very much!

After dinner, we headed 2 blocks down the street to attend Martini Shopping Night at the South End Athletic Company.

Even though the store opened in October, this was my first time stopping by.  The store was started by 2 guys from BC.  Woohoo, go Eagles!  I thought there was a good selection of running clothing, sneakers, and gear.  Dan and Justin, the co-founders, are former track teammates.  Both are really friendly and knowledgeable about running.  Plus very helpful and encouraging to “fun runners” like meeee!

017

The SEAC holds Fun Runs on Thursday nights and longer runs on the weekends.  The Thursday night runs include a typical track workout.  Well typical for those who are familiar with track.  When Dan described it, the workout was foreign to me.  I can’t make it tonight, but it’s on my calendar for next week.  Sometimes as many as 18 people meet for this workout!

Even cooler:  the SEAC will help you customize a Marathon Training Plan.  I’m still thinking about signing up for 26.2 miles in the fall and I’d love a plan created with me in mind.  I could easily google a training schedule and then skip most of the workouts.  But I’d much rather share my running stats with the SEAC guys and create something that fits in my schedule and meets my needs.

Though the strong martini was an added perk, that’s not what convinced me to support the SEAC and buy a t-shirt.  From the first few minutes in the store and chatting with Dan, I felt really comfortable.  Love the runners’ environment that Dan and Justin have created…just a few blocks away from my apartment!

I made a yogurt mess for breakfast using the leftover plain Chobani from last night.  I added vanilla granola, Justin’s Maple Almond Butter, and Crofter’s Organic Superfruit Spread.  Last time I blended in plain Greek yogurt, I used cranberry butter and it was too start.  But today I hit the mark and created the perfect mix of flavors.  Yum!

Corgi

Someone got a little too close for comfort while I was trying to eat my breakfast.  I took Miles’ photo cuz I thought it was funny and cute.  But trying to be a disciplined owner, he was kicked off the couch and forced to behave immediately after.  ;)

I would have done some real damage in that store. Everytime I drink I think money is grown on trees and tend to spend away!
