Jared told me that I can shout it from the rooftops: The month of January is over and I didn’t use my credit card. Woohoo, no spending money on pointless shopping and unessential items. It was a challenge and Jared bet that I wouldn’t make it. But we’re both happy I proved him wrong.

We’re trying to postpone a trip to the grocery store until later in the week so we can buy essentials for our Super Bowl party on Sunday. In the meantime, there will be lots of random meals using whatever is left over. I had the last of the Special K with Red Berries for breakfast.
My tentative Super Bowl menu includes chili, corn bread, chips and homemade salsa, and veggies and dip.

I made a wrap with cucumbers and Garlic and Herb cheese. I was really excited to give this combo a try.

Then disaster…try wrap broke apart and I lost the everything. Oh well, I just ate with my fingers, made a mess, and enjoyed my lunch.
I packed a bunch of snacks for this afternoon because I can tell this wrap won’t keep me full for long. I’m also psyched to go to the gym in an hour or so. After spending the weekend hibernating in my bed, I want to get up heart rate going and work up a sweat.
*After taking a few days off, do you start to miss hitting the gym and working out?*

I always miss the gym after a few days off. Sometimes I need a longer break, but I take it if I need it!

Oh I definitely start to miss being active! I’d say it takes about 2 days off before I’m itching to get back

Wow good for you! Did you take it out of your wallet or something?? I wish I had your will power!! haha
After taking days off I do miss the gym, and I get scared going back. Stupid, right? I feel like I’ll forget what to do or something. I’m weird.

Good job on the credit card. They’re the worst.
I took a week off and was so excited to run yesterday. I think I even fist pumped I was so excited.

Melissa: Bahaha, I can totally picture you putting your hair in a Snookie-pouf before heading out for a run.

Way to not use the credit card!! I’m still trying to figure out how I got $2,000 on there in the last month and a half. I blame Christmas and weddings.
Anway, I always miss the gym. When I took a two month hiatus, even walking on the treadmill felt AMAZING! I could feel my muscles just loosening up!

That’s awesome! Keeping spending in control can be so hard!!! We’re doing things to cut down on ours too and its tough.
And I definitely start to miss the gym if I don’t go regularly. It gives me energy.

Congrats on your challenge! My wraps have a tendency to fall apart, too. I’m not one of those people with the talent to fold them perfectly! Sounds like you still enjoyed it though

Wow! Melissa, that this really incredible. Good job retiring the credit card! I am very impressed.
I am pretty addicted to a good sweat, so I really miss it when I am away from the gym. Usually when that happens I try to find another way to be active and move. I’m not good at being still!

I think Chili and Super Bowl are two thing that naturally go together! I’m making Chili as well as some other items.

That wrap combo looks great – but yeah, it wouldn’t keep me full for long.
I love the gym, but I’m often an all or nothing person. Sometimes when I take a few days off I struggle to get myself back to working out. On the other hand when I’m going everyday I can’t imagine not going.

Well done on not using your credit card. This month have challenged myself not to use my card for anything other than paying for petrol and food. 2 days in and it’s going well! I too miss the gym when I’m ill but exercising with a cold is never good. As you say, a few days off is often very much needed.
