Weighty Issues

002

It’s been a while since I’ve made stove top oats.  I was so excited to combine:

  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup of oatmeal
  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon
  • 1 cup of frozen blackberries
  • 1 spoonful of peanut butter

I couldn’t ask for a better breakfast!  :)

I ate lunch around 11 because I was going to Body Pump at noon.  I opened my last box of Pacific Natural Foods’ Spicy Black Bean Soup.  I love this stuff!  It has just the right amount of spice for me, not strong but very flavorful.  I crushed the last of the tortilla chips and mixed them into the bowl.

I was psyched to get to Body Pump.  I brought a list the weights I used last class and wanted to make a few changes.  I increased my weight for the squat, chest, and tricep tracks.   The warmup, back, bicep, lunge, and shoulder track weights stayed the same.

Uping the weight was a good decision.  I got more of a workout without overdoing it.  Knowing I was adding more weight made me feel like such a bad ass as I worked throughout the class.  One woman in the class kept trying to lift too much weight and she’d stop several times during multiple tracks to change her bar so it weighed less.  I know lots of people like to make the most of their workouts, but this woman was trying to do too much and it was sad watching her struggle.  If I see her in class next week, I hope she makes better weight decisions.

I always get excited when I can make stove top oats. I never have the time during the week and the weekends are busy too. But when I get to make them, I really enjoy them!

Spicy black bean soup, sign me up!

Awww…I’ve been that woman. I feel for her. Maybe she could usually do that much weight, but was having a tough day. Poor gal :(

Great job on your workout and increasing your stength!

Good job up upping your workout! My story is super lame, but lately I have finally been able to do a couple real pushups, not the girl ones. For a girl with zero upper body strength I was pretty excited.

Melissa: Aww, poor you! But this lady is a little nutty: She was lifting weights before class started and she’s always doing strange things. Keeps me entertained! :o

I am always looking for a way to out do myself in my workouts! I gradually started uping my workouts in body pump also, but started hitting a plateau with Body Pump. So, I started working out on my own and using a Gymboss Interval Timer to keep me on my toes!! It is my go to tool when trying to challenge myself!! =)

I haven’t done a group weight class in a LONG time but I end up doing like that lady a lot in my normal workouts. I’ll do drop sets where I lift super heavy for 5-6 reps, then drop the weight and do another 5-6 reps right away. It kills! Although the fact that in a class the track is a set length and she’s trying to change it during would limit her…and probably be annoying to others! Glad it was a good workout for you!
