As I’m posting on February 21st, I need to pause to say…
Happy Birthday Jared!!!
Now back to my regularly scheduled post…

Jared and I got to Saratoga on Saturday afternoon, a few hours later than planned. We had just enough time to grab sandwiches from Panera on the way to the rink to watch my brother’s senior hockey game. I ordered the smoked turkey sandwich on country bread. It had turkey, lettuce, onions, cucumbers, spicy mustard, and mayo. I was skeptical, but it was delicious and kept me full until dinner time.

After the game, the 4 hockey seniors and their families headed to Max London’s for dinner.
I had a glass of Rose Tempranillo before dinner, along with bread dipped in olive oil. I thought the oil was great; it had a slight taste of grass.

I had a glass of Red Tempranillo with my entree, orecchiette with squash, walnut brown butter, parmigiano, and amaretti. It was tasty, but very salty. I ate half of the bowl and stole a slice of pizza from my cousin.

The bathroom in Max London’s was amusing. Lipstick kisses all over the lower half of the walls.
We went out for a round of beers after dinner. But I couldn’t stay up late because I had to run 6 miles in the morning.

6 miles through Saratoga Springs was a lot of fun, especially with my new gadget to keep track of my speed and distance. I haven’t installed the Garmin program on my computer so I can’t upload the actual results. The Garmin Forerunner 405 CX is pretty easy to work and so far it’s proven to be a good purchase.
My Auntie Carol, Uncle Jon, Jared and I covered 6 miles in about 58 minutes.

I iced my knees for a few minutes just to prevent any pain.

My coworker recommended Uncommon Grounds so I was really excited for breakfast.

I ordered an iced chai and a fruit cup. (My mom is sipping her orange juice in the background and rocking her Skidmore gear.)

I ordered a plain bagel with a “schmear” of cream cheese. That’s actually how it was listed on the menu and it was fun to say “schmear” out loud!

We wandered up and down Broadway. I have to thank Auntie Carol for noticing the sign for Bettie’s Cakes.

Teeny tiny Red Velvet cupcake. The perfect after breakfast treat! I shared with Jared cuz he was the birthday boy.

The horse theme was everywhere!

Love this hitching post at the door of the Grey Gelding restaurant.

The 3 hour drive home was uneventful. I was a little tired from the morning run so I dozed. I had a Greek wrap that Jared bought while I slept through our time at a rest stop somewhere on the Mass Pike.
It was a busy weekend and a great time with family. I can’t wait to go back to Saratoga at the end of May to celebrate my brother’s college graduation. Strolling up and down Broadway will be even more fun once the weather is warm!

Looks like a fun weekend! I went to Saratoga Springs once on a church retreat in high school and thought it was such a cute and quaint area! Freeeeezing though. I’d love to see it in the Spring.

I’m really hoping the bathroom kisses were wall-paper. I couldn’t imagine kissing a public bathroom wall!
