Good Grief

DSC05871

Do I look a little frustrated?  That’s because this dress is super comfortable and great, but it’s about 2 inches too long.  Once I get it hemmed so it hits just below my kneecaps, it will be much more flattering.

I wore the dress because it was clean and more importantly, it was ironed.

Fashion Tip:  The ideal dress/skirt hemlines fall either just above or just below the knee.  The hemline should never fall at the widest part of the leg, which means neither the thighs nor the calves.  Flared skirts that fall just below the knees help athletic calves look slimmer.  Hemlines that fall past mid-calf can make you look short and stocky.

I was also frustrated because as soon as I got to the gym, I realized that I forgot socks.

I also forgot my headphones.

I also forgot my shower sandals.

Good grief!  My training called for a 3 mile run.  Since I was facing so many annoying obstacles, I decided to take it easy.  I started my 3 miles by running 2 miles at 6.5 mph.  Then I ran 3/4 of a mile at 6.6 mph, and the last quarter mile at 6.8 mph.  I walked until I cooled down and then I stretched and used both the foam roller and the myo-release ball.

It was a really snowy walk back from HealthWorks.

I was glad to be back in my office in a matter of seconds.

Tea time!

I sniffed, I steeped, and the Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride tea did not disappoint.  This tea tasted sugary and sweet.  I only added 1 packet of truvia.  At first I thought it had a lemony aroma, but it really did remind me of sugar cookie desserts!

After the tea, I was still in the mood for a sweet treat.  Reese’s Valentine’s Day chocolate!

I made my own stir fry for dinner.  Plus I cooked a bunch of chicken to eat throughout the week.

I mixed sugar snap peas, various colored peppers, chicken, and brown rice.  It tasted great blended with about a teaspoon of soy sauce.

Even though these desserts have been hanging around since Super Bowl Sunday, I couldn’t resist. It’s Fat Tuesday after all!  ;)

I guess I sealed the container properly because my piece was as moist and delicious as the piece I ate over a week ago.  Such a delicious dessert, but I’m glad there aren’t any left.  Resisting would be so difficult!

Funny seeing my gym while I’m on vacation. I’m not sorry to be missing the snow though!

Good advice about hem lengths. I like skirts to fall right below my knees usually. Any longer and it makes me look even shorter than I already am (and I’m only 5’0″ – I need all the help I can get!)

Ahhh, I’ve forgotten my headphones before. That’s the worst! Actually, I’ve forgotten socks too and had to buy the ridiculously overpriced ones on sale at my old Crunch gym. At least you still got your workout in :)

One thing I don’t miss about going to a gym right now is that I can’t possibly forget anything! That was always my fear when I went to the gym…either forgetting something for my workout or forgetting something that I needed to get dressed and ready for work!
