It’s 2010. Time to leave certain trends back in ’09 where they belong. Thanks to my favorite fashionistas at Style Bakery, here are some of the items that should be moved to the back of your closet.
- Green nail polish: Do you really want to look like your nails have fungus?
- MC Hammer pants: Only necessary if you plan to jump out of a plane and don’t own a parachute.
- Harem pants: Basically, it’s Hammer Time with a classier name. But they still resemble a droopy diaper.
- Black lipstick: I guess this was a popular runway trend and some people attempted to take it to the streets. I know I only wear my black lipstick on Halloween. I look pale and scary enough without a summertime tan, thank you very much.
- Jumpsuits: Very Studio 54! I don’t mind this look on others, but I’m not a 6′ celeb so I’ll pass.
- Sharp shoulders: Though we’re still in bad economic times, this look will discourage anyone from crying on your shoulder. With shoulders resembling a line backer or a shark fin, I don’t think it will be easy to make friends. (And to avoid confusion, bold shouldered looks are still ok! Just avoid sharp shoulders that might poke an eye out.)

I think the bold shoulder can look fabulous when done right and on the right person. Like any trend, you have to make sure the other parts of the the outfit are basic so that you’re not rocking a bold shoulder, gladiator heels, and harem pants. That’s where it goes bad.

Melissa: Agreed! Plus there’s a difference between the bold shouldered looks that we can buy in stores and the BOLD shoulders that you see on runways and on celebs.

Why were the sharp shoulders ever popular? No one can pull that off. I guess you could say that about the parachute pants as well haha

hahah AGREED! HATE the sharp shoulders. sorry but NOBODY can pull that off
or the black lipstick..yuck
