“Daddy, I want a golden goose. Noooo, I want one of those! …I want one! I want a golden goose!” -Veruca Salt in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Yesterday, via Twitter, I was a little bit whiney. I wanted a cupcake. I wanted a camera. And this morning, I wanted a “DSLR, Professional Series Mixer, Flip Video, new Uggs, new computer, millionaire husband.” Thanks to Jessica, I realized I wanted all of those things after she mentioned wanting them…they all see pretty damn good!
Yeah it would be great to have lots of new stuff, but in general I’m happy with what I’ve got.
Except for one thing…
I really MUST have a cupcake.

But since I’ll have to wait for my cupcake until after work tonight, I made Oats in a Jar for breakfast this morning using Jared’s empty jar of peanut butter. I like fancy, flavored peanut butter but he always opts for the regular stuff.

My Oats in a Jar contained:
- 1 cup of water
- 1/2 cup of oatmeal
- 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
- a few pieces of dark chocolate, melted
- 1 tablespoon of raisins
I’m another one of the few bloggers who can honestly say that Oats in a Jar isn’t a favorite. Oatmeal tastes better in a bowl. Jars are too narrow. I like room to stir and see all of my toppings and mix-ins.

Yeah last time I made oats in a jar I had to pour it into a bowl to properly mix it!

I’m totally with you on the OIAJ – Unless I make the whole concoction in a bowl and then add it back into the jar, it’s just not that tasty. And by that point it seems like such a hassle that I dont even bother!

Ive never made the oats in a jar yet, only in a bowl. I do rock the squash in a jar. But I dont add alot of mix ins with my squash so it works. It looks really tasty though! I hope you have a great day!!

I haven’t tried oats in a jar…I’ve seen it everywhere but I’m not really too interested to try it. I always scrape my jars clean and I don’t think I’d like the idea of eating in a smaller container. Makes it hard to get to the good stuff!

Ah there is always stuff I want too, but I never need it. The cupcake sounds good too.

I’m not a huge fan of oats in a jar either. I always end up with PB on my knuckles when I try to give it a good mixing. Jars are for PB, bowls are for oats.
