Going Greek

004

I ate a Banana Nut VitaMuffin before I left for work.  I was really hungry and needed something to hold me over until my Chobani taste test.

005

I tried the raspberry flavor first.  I’m a huge fan of anything berry flavored so this was an easy decision.

The verdict?

Delicious.  The raspberry flavor isn’t quite as sweet as the strawberry, which was nice.  I love the thick creamy texture that Chobani’s Greek yogurt always has.  I didn’t add anything to the yogurt and just enjoyed the simple, sweet yet tart raspberry flavor.

006

Yeah, I was clearly satisfied with this new flavor!  Yum!  Thank you Chobani for allowing me to sample your new flavors…I still haven’t been able to find the pomegranate or pineapple flavors at any of my grocery stores.

Here are some of the main differences between Greek Yogurt and Standard Yogurt:

  • Greek yogurt has more protein (almost double the amount found in standard yogurt)
  • Greek yogurt is lower in carbs
  • Greek yogurt is lower in sugar (Less carbs and less sugar tends to make Greek yogurt a better choice for diabetics)
  • Greek yogurt has a thicker and creamier texture (this texture makes Greek yogurt better for making dips and sauces)
  • Sometimes Greek yogurt can contain less calcium than standard yogurt (Greek yogurt is triple strained so this can remove some of the calcium)
  • Regular Greek yogurt may be higher in fat and calories than regular yogurt

I hope everyone is ready for the weekend.  Apparently Miles had a busy week and he’s planning to use this weekend to rest and recover.

*Do you prefer Greek yogurt or regular yogurt?*

Love Greek yogurt. I’ll never go back to regular yogurt.

We have all the flavors in the stores near me. Have you tried Shaws and Stop and Shop? Maybe you need to come down my way :)

I need to look into getting a lunch bag, too – bringing my lunch in a plastic grocery bag is getting old. I’ll have to be on the lookout for the new Chobani flavors! I still haven’t been able to find pineapple or pomegranate near me. Boo!

I have never had Greek yogurt. Where can you buy it, do you know? (We don’t have a Trader Joe’s here so if you say TJ, I will cry. :) )

Also, if Miles likes it, I’m in.

Your doggie is too cute!!! I just love him!

I can’t get down with Greek yogurt. It leaves almost like a chalky aftertaste in my mouth…it’s the only way I can think to describe it. I tried Stonyfields Oikos. I couldn’t even get through five bites. blegh!

Hi Melissa! I’m glad you approve of the raspberry flavor! I haven’t seen the new ones in the stores around me yet, but I can’t wait to try. I’m definitely a greek yogurt convert – the consistency of regular yogurt almost grosses me out now.

    Happy Friday!
