I made stove top oats for breakfast this morning using
- 1 cup of water
- 1/2 cup of oatmeal
- 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
- 1 cup of frozen berries
- 1/2 packet of Justin’s Maple Almond Butter

Ok, so I didn’t set up the bowl for the prettiest photo opp. But this morning’s oats were “berry, berry” good. I loved the sweet/sour berry flavor combined with the saltiness of the almond butter.

I was SO hungry by 11:15 am, but I forgot that I had a meeting at 11:30. I snacked on a few tortilla chips dipped in spicy black bean soup before the meeting.

When I got back to my office, I reheated the soup and set up the rest of my meal. I sprinkled tortilla chips and cheddar cheese on the top of the spicy black bean soup and then topped everything off with a tablespoon of plain Chobani. Yum!
There was an office Fit Group meeting today. More great healthy recipes were discussed, along with exercise tips and techniques. The Fit Group is even considering signing up for Fiona’s Challenge at HealthWorks! Participating in a month long work0ut challenge would be a great way to help everyone get closer to her goals.

Inspired by a recent Divine Caroline article, I decided to share some…
Tips and Reminders for How to Stay Safe while Driving.
- Do not talk on the phone while driving, unless you have a hands-free device.
- Do NOT text while driving.
- Do not program a GPS while driving.
- Remember to signal. Use your blinker to changes lanes and before you turn.
- Be smart about eating while driving. Certain foods/drinks can impede your driving. Examples include coffee/soup (extreme heat), burger (greasy, slippery hands), tacos (messy and distracting), and chocolate (melts very easily and causes a distracting mess).
- Try to avoid speeding .
- Reduce speed during inclement weather or under unsafe conditions.
- Wear your seat belt!

Monday’s Oprah featured families who have lost loves ones due to drives who are distracted by texting/talking on the phone. It was so sad!

I HATE cell phones while driving!! I do admit that occasionally I do it, but I almost get hit all the time by others doing it.

I can’t talk and drive at the same time. I don’t know how people do it.

I watched that Oprah episode too and it was horribly sad and scary. I never talk or text while driving, it’s impossible for anyone to do. I always wear my seat belt too, I feel naked without it

Meg & Julie: I didn’t see that episode of Oprah. but that’s really sad. I know I’m guilty of talking on the phone sometimes, but texting is wayyyy too dangerous. Keep your eyes on the road!

That is one of my favorite oatmeal combos – I love berries!
Thanks for the reminder on the driving tips – things we all know but sometimes need a little reminder…
