Jared’s surprise was tickets to Boston Ballet’s The Nutcracker! I guessed the surprise several times, but still wasn’t sure that’s where we were going because Jared had claimed he hated ballet and would not even sit through a Christmas themed one.

The Opera House is gorgeous and there were lots of holiday decorations. Jared and I had stopped at a nearby bar for a glass of wine before the show, and then took glasses of champagne to our seats to sip on during Act I.
The ballet was fantastic. I loved the dancing and the costumes were gorgeous. I was Oooing and Ahhing at all of the cute little kids and the roles they had to play. My personal favorite scenes were the Waltz of the Snowflakes as well of the Dance of the Reed-flutes which featured 5 children dressed as fuzzy little lambs.

We walked out of the warm cozy theater and into a whirling snowstorm!

Some guy told Jared that he looked like a snowman. Hahaha, it’s funny cuz it’s true!

I was happy once we found a restaurant so we could escape the cold. My Seychelles booties were actually comfortable for walking around Boston. There is a hidden platform in the bootie so the heel is not as high as it appears. Much easier on my delicate feet!

Not our first choice, but we settled on dinner at PF Changs. I was starving! We didn’t eat dinner until 10:30 pm. (FYI, PF Chang’s has an entire page of their menu dedicated to gluten-free options!)
We started with an order of Chicken Lettuce Wraps.

I ordered the Ginger Chicken with Broccoli and Jared ordered the Mongolian Beef, both with brown rice. We forgot our leftovers on the table so I was quite angry during the cab ride home. That chicken would’ve been really good for breakfast…but I’ll get over it!

We split a bottle of Pinot Noir. Mmm, I love my wine!
We watched SNL when we got home and I passed out on the couch. An evening out at the ballet and dinner will do that to me I guess!

I asked Jared if he would make breakfast for me. So all I ended up with was a toasted Arnold Thin with peanut butter and jelly.

Our apartment was really cold this morning so I might’ve eaten my toast from under my down comforter.

I snacked on some Trader Joe’s kettle corn.

We told Miles that we’re going to Blackstone today so that I can decorate gingerbread houses with my cousin Jenna. Miles is anxious to head out so I’d better get myself together.

What a fun evening! I haven’t seen the Nutcracker in years – and to find snow afterwards must have made the night even more magical. Have fun decorating gingerbread houses!

Fun date night and thoughtful surprise.
Too bad about the leftovers
I have the same comforter set! It’s almost too comfortable and warm. I never want to get out of bed!
