Jared, Drew, Nicki, Chris, and I met at Stephie’s for dinner. It was pretty crowded so we got drinks at the bar while we waited for our table. I had a glass of Malbec, my favorite! I also tried some of Nicki’s Sangiovese and it was delicious.

We split the Butternut Squash Risotto as an appetizer. It was a delicious blend of risotto, butternut squash reduction, Gorgonzola cheese, and red wine reduction. The bowl was much larger than I expected so there was plenty for the 5 of us to share.

I ordered the Blackened Sirloin Caesar for dinner. I’ve never ordered a salad with red meat; I normally stick to chicken. This was extremely tasty. I ate everything!
We had a tough time figuring out how to split the check and ended up leaving a sort of bad tip. We had intended to leave 20% but somehow came up a bit short. The waiter followed us outside claiming that Chris had not signed his credit card slip, and then proceeded to question us as to why we only left a 10% tip. I think that was extremely unprofessional! While it was our mistake for undertipping, we definitely have more than that. The waiter was very disrespectful to actually follow us out onto the sidewalk, quote dollar amounts and percentages, and demand some answers.
While we enjoyed the meal at Stephie’s, I think that maybe certain staff members should be educated on how to treat diners. Jared and I would go back in a heartbeat and leave a much better tip. The food was great and we understand servers are working for tips. There was no need for this guy to go to such extreme and immature measures to try to get more money. (And for the record, he was not that attentive, forgot my salad dressing when the meals came out, and was a general shmuck)
Now I am getting heated and I may send a little note to Stephie’s to let them know how the waiter handled the situation by treating the 5 of us with such disrespect.

Jared, Chris and I went to Delux for an after dinner drink. I had a glass of the house red, not as good at the Malbec I had with dinner.
We were asleep by them time our friend Mark called us to go to the Beehive. Oh well, maybe another night!

I made pumpkin pancakes using the Trader Joe’s mix. While my pancakes don’t look pretty, they tasted great! I topped them with a little bot of Cranberry Apple Butter and some maple syrup.

We took Miles for a walk up Darmouth, along Newbury Street, and then back down Berkley. I loved seeing true Thanksgiving decorations.

The guys enjoyed the walk too.

Our neighbors decorated their stoop with beautiful holiday greens. Looks pretty but it must be a tight squeeze to move around the plants and fit through the front door.

I had a spicy veggie burger and a Honey Crisp apple for lunch. Simply and tasty.
Jared and I have 10 hours of WWII footage on the DVR. The History Channel aired a 10 part series this past week. I think we’re going to spend the rest of the afternoon watching the battle scenes. I’m such a dork cuz I’m really looking forward to this!

Wow, that waiter was rude. I used to waitress and would never, ever even think of following a customer outside and bitch about a lousy tip. I have gotten bad tips before because people can be cheap, but I’d never think to say something to them. It’s so unprofessional! Totally write them a letter or call.

Pumpkin pancakes, yum!
I have had a waiter do that before, it is really inappropriate. We tipped low because of the horrible service! The dinner looked delish though

I worked in restaurants all through college and never would’ve behaved that way. I think you should send an email to the restaurant manager explaining what happened and include a link to this blog post. Advise him that he should tell his waitstaff that they never who they’re waiting on.

It’s a good thing the food was good, because that was very inappropriate on the part of the waiter. I always leave a good tip, but I’m sure I have miscalculated before. It happens. Not a reason to pounce on a customer.
I need to get some of this cranberry apple butter!
