Power Up

I tried out Arnold Sandwich Thins for lunch today.  I used the multi-grain flavor and sandwiched turkey, cheese, lettuce, and pickles in between the Thins.  Obviously I had a little bag of Sunchips on the side.  Mmm.  The Thins were great.  They’re thicker than regular slices of bread, but not so heavy that I felt overwhelmed by the carbs.

My poor Honey Crisp apple suffered a fall yesterday morning.  I ate around the bruise.

I went to the gym and watched Superbad while I used the Elliptical for 20 minutes.  I’m working on an article examining the Elliptical as a form of cardio that’s similar to running on a treadmill, but easier on the joints.  After 20 minutes, I was definitely just as sweaty as when I’ve run.  I sat in the sauna for 10 or 15 minutes.  I love my relaxation sessions!

Finally decided to try one of the PowerBars I took home from the Half Marathon.

That snarly face shows that I wasn’t happy with this bar.  It smelled great, but it was too tough and chewy.  It was also really sticky.  The caramel flavor might’ve been good, but the extra protein took away some of the sweetness and made it semi-chalky.  I wouldn’t buy one of these…and I’m not sure what I want to do with the other PowerBars in my drawer.  Yuck!

I made a mishmash of leftovers and fresh foods for tonight’s dinner.  I boiled some wheat pasta and ate that with 3 turkey meatballs, a few spoonfuls of pasta sauce, and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese.  I had a salad with Garlic Vinaigrette dressing and baby carrots with Ranch veggie dip on the side.

I’m surprised that the thins are thicker than bread. They look so skinny! I’ll defintely give them a try now.

Oh, I forgot to answer your question…sorry! I entertain myself on the treadmill by making a new playlist everyday so I don’t get used to the same songs over and over, I cover the display screen with a towel so I can’t stare at the clock, and I either think about what I need to get done that day or I make up music videos in my head to the music. It sounds odd, but hey, whatever works right?

Yeah, I’m not a huge fan of Powerbars either. They’re always too sticky for my tastes. It’s almost like they’re trying to be some weird form of taffy or something.

Also, it’s great to meet another Boston blogger! I’m not sure I’ll be able to make it on the 7th, but we’ll see (my brother is having a birthday party that night…. so who knows)
